SharkLab LiVE! are on the hunt for Sharks! Mermaids Purses are actually empty Shark Eggcases of globally threatened and endangered Shark Ray Skates who all live around the Isle of Wight. There are 9 species of Shark Ray Skate living around the island…out of a total of 13 species that live around the entire UK. So the island is a hotspot for Sharks, who are older than the dinosaurs, and are gentle small ones! Join SharkLab LiVE! for a 6 day Eggspedition this Easter 2023, along beautiful sandy beaches of Sandown, which is part of the Bembridge Marine Conservation Zone. During each day’s 2hr eggspedition, we will hunt for empty Shark Eggs, to help identify which Shark Pups have hatched in Sandown Bay this Spring. Data collected will help scientists to monitor the health or decline of these special sharks that live around the Isle of Wight. We’re Going On A Shark Hunt!
